Memorial Day (Part I)
Memorial Day on South Padre Island is a great weekend for businesses. The cars and buses in the Schlitterbahn water park parking lot are overflowing onto the grass.
The fishing boats are packed “to the gills”…
and people are enjoying the fantastic fireworks and induction of summer.
but there are reminders as to the real reason behind this holiday.
Flags were lowered to half-mast at the Municipal Bldg. on South Padre Island.
Marines from Harlingen, TX were on hand to present the colors.
It is proper to salute the flag or raise your hand to your heart as the flag passes by. That is what I was taught.
Who SHOULD salute the flag, really? Should this person here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU9iCANi02o
Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have given their all for this country.
