Border Violence Spilling Into America?

If the reports of  all the border town violence between Mexico and the United States are making you hesitate about making a trip to South Padre Island, here are pictures of what is REALLY going on.  I decided to go and find out for myself how dangerous the streets have become in the closest border town called Brownsville, Texas. I must report that the situation is worse than you could ever imagine. The news media hasn’t even gotten to the real story. This is what I saw in Brownsville, TX. – RIGHT ON THE BORDER BETWEEN MEXICO AND THE UNITED STATES!

 

It is worse than you could have EVER imagined. The people in the downtown business district are terrified and only speak in muffled tones of the dangers that lurk in the streets. Notice the terrified lady in red protecting her head and face from the border violence happening in Brownsville, TX.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

People travel in groups now because they are terrified.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Very few little old ladies cross the street anymore without aid. I caught this brave soul going it alone. I asked her name… she ran… well hobbled, but she tried to run.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The town has been rendered immobile, helpless and no one comes outside anymore because of these… packs of  little baby hoodlums. Look at the threatening pose these guys take as they intimidate the city and cause people to cower and run at the sight of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If the store owners don’t pay the “insurance due” to the little baby hoodlums, they know what will happen. They’ll be needing some new kneecaps soon, or ankles, looking at the height of this little guy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suicide seems like the only option to some. These characters chose to just end it rather than face living with the terror of the little baby hoodlums.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Only one thing can stop these little baby hoodlums from taking over the streets of America’s border towns…. Our brave soldiers in green… the United States Border Patrol. This is the border they are protecting. The Rio Grande River IS the Texas/Mexico border.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the international bridge where “hundreds of people cross back and forth on a daily basis”. There were about 5 crossing when I was there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the border patrol before Obama… with its nice air-conditioned SUV’s running all the time on gas paid for with taxpayer-paid credit cards.

The over two hundred year old cathedral was being painted today. This is purely Gothic architecture.

Aside from the beautiful architecture, the city abounds in beautiful flora. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a picture of a real neighborhood in Brownsville. It is really quiet and filled with families whose kids go to school. Most Hispanics down here see education as the only ticket to success. Family and religion are very important here as well. Downtown was really bustling with business, people were friendly and greeted each other with smiles and “Buenas tardes” (Good Afternoon), and it made for a really great day. There really was no excitement other than the beautiful things we saw like a purple tree and the palm-tree lined street right in the middle of downtown. The violence IN PARTS OF Mexico is real and real scary but I am giving you pictures taken today, 4/20/09, on this side of the border,  and as you just saw, I would have to make things up to get a scandalous story. I am sure parts of New York, Los Angeles and Houston are a bit dangerous as well. If it were not scandalous you wouldn’t see it in the news because people equate peace with the mundane. When I was younger, I thought life was supposed to be all about excitement and fun and that a peaceful life was boring and monotonous.  Now I know how many people would treasure a litte peace in their lives. Please, treat yourself to a trip to South Padre Island. If you are worried about the violence in Mexico, don’t travel to Mexico but there was NOTHING going on in the border town called Brownsville except for the great food, great people and the Gladys Porter Zoo, one of the best zoos in the nation, soon to be featured here.
